Purpose
The Daily Bread Club is part of University Bible Fellowship (UBF), an international student organization dedicated to the task of raising disciples. Our main work is helping students to study the Bible, live according to its teachings, and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
What We Believe
We believe the Bible teaches the following fundamental Christian truths:
- That there is one God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- That God created the heavens and the earth and all things; that he is the Sovereign Ruler of all things; that the Sovereign God reveals himself; that he is sovereign in his redemptive work and in his final judgment.
- That the Bible is inspired by God; that it is entirely trustworthy; that it is the final authority in faith and practice.
- That all people have been under the bondage and power of sin since the fall of Adam, and deserve the judgment and wrath of God.
- That Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God, through his atoning, sacrificial death on the cross for our sins and his resurrection, is the only way of salvation; that he alone can save us from sin and judgment, and purify us from the contamination of sin.
- That Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father.
- That regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit; that it is necessary if one is to enter the kingdom of God.
- That we are made righteous by grace alone, through faith alone.
- That the Holy Spirit works in the heart of every believer to lead him.
- That the Church is the body of Christ and that all Christians are members of it.
- That Jesus Christ will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.
Bible Study
1. One-to-one Bible Study
In this collective society, one person can easily be ignored. As we learn from the Bible how God helped one person, Abraham, over twenty-five years, and how Jesus, our Lord, helped the Twelve one by one, we are greatly inspired to study the Bible with each student on a one-to-one basis.
This kind of Bible study is costly because it involves investment of one’s personal time, love, and care. But we believe what the Bible teaches, that one soul is of greater worth than the whole universe.
In one-to-one Bible study, we usually begin with the Book of Genesis or John’s Gospel in order to learn basic Christianity.
2. Daily Bible Reading
We also encourage students to read the Bible daily and to pray regularly using the Daily Bread booklets. Some students meet in small groups once a week or daily to share their personal responses to the word of God.
3. Discipleship Training
As Jesus raised disciples from the outset of his ministry, we also pray that God may raise many disciples of Jesus Christ through our prayers and labor of love. For this purpose we hold an annual Summer Bible Conference, Easter Conference, and special one-week Bible school.
4. World Mission Vision
In the course of Bible study we learn that our Lord, Jesus Christ, gave his disciples the World Mission Command, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” (Mark 16:15) We pray that God may raise many lay missionaries and send them out to all the nations of the world.
Bible Conferences and Retreats
Periodically we go to Bible Conferences and retreats where we have a chance to experience fellowship with believers from around the world, to immerse ourselves in the study of the word of God, and to hear about the world salvation work God is doing.
How UBF Began
UBF began in 1961 in Kwangju, South Korea, through a cooperative endeavor of the Korean Presbyterian Church and the American Presbyterian Church for Campus Mission. God has blessed UBF ministry to be an international and inter-denominational organization for campus evangelism. So far, God has enabled UBF ministry to send about 1300 lay missionaries to over 87 nations.
